I don't make fresh Year's resolutions. (If you're reading this other than the day I wrote it, 1/1/24, that may seem a bit out of place to you, I suppose.)

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing now. So when I decide to make a change in my life, I make the change right then. Back in my 20s when I decided to grab in shape and lost 100 lbs in 6 months, I started in April. When I decided to go to law school, I made the decision in March after being deposed in a lawsuit I'd filed against a drunk driver who broke my neck.

Waiting until an arbitrary date is just procrastination, and that means you are not serious enough about it to start at this moment. This is probably the ONLY aspect of my life that would fit seamlessly with those jerks on LinkedIn who are always posting about how they grab up at 430 and start 13 businesses before you've had your coffee, except that "start doing the thing that will improve your life now, not in 3 months" is just solid advice that had worked for me.
