Digital Twin Development
From concept to integration – develop and scale systemic digital twins with WorldLab™
A pragmatic approach
In order to help our customers starting their systemic digital twin journey, we consider two main phases for a given industrial system:
- A business-oriented proof-of-concept phase, where we shall create & install a first systemic digital twin with WordLab™: we shall especially define a system model of your industrial system, develop a minimum viable product (MVP) for an associated systemic digital twin and manage the first business analyses on this basis in order to prove the value of the approach.
- A scale-up & integration phase can then be managed to construct an operational WordLab™-based systemic digital twin, fully integrated within an industrial information system. We then also provide adapted supporting business & technical services such as WorldLab™ and Σ™ training, technical expertise, connections with reference databases, etc.

Objective: Establish a robust foundation by understanding core business challenges and delivering an initial systemic digital twin to validate hypotheses and de-risk decisions.
Description: This phase combines deep problem-definition with rapid model-building in WorldLab™, ensuring all stakeholders align on scope, objectives and data requirements before technical development.
Key Activities
- Problem Framing: Workshops to define business objectives, strategic decisions, and technical scope.
- Use Case Identification: Select and prioritize operational scenarios with clear KPIs.
- Environment Modeling: Create domain and environment diagrams to map system boundaries and data flows.
- Data Preparation: Collect, cleanse and integrate internal and external data for accurate simulation.
- Prototype Development: Build an agile Σ™ model in WorldLab™ including initial user interface sketches.
- Iterative Validation: Run quick simulations, capture stakeholder feedback, and refine the twin.
- Business Study Support: Execute scenario simulations, analyze results, and produce actionable insights.
Deliverables
- Comprehensive problem-definition report with defined use cases and KPIs.
- Environment and interaction diagrams.
- Initial WorldLab™ digital twin prototype with basic user interfaces.
- Simulation results and recommendations document.

Objective: Scale and integrate your initial proof-of-concept into a fully operational systemic digital twin that aligns seamlessly with business processes and IT infrastructure.
Description: Building upon the proof-of-concept, this phase enhances model robustness, connects real-time data sources, embeds the twin into your workflows, and equips your teams with the skills to leverage it effectively.
Key Activities
- Data Integration: Connect the WorldLab™ digital twin to internal and external databases, ensuring data quality, ETL pipelines, and real-time updates.
- Business Integration: Identify and map user roles, define scope of use cases, and embed digital twin insights into decision-making processes.
- Model Enhancement: Refine and robustify the Σ™ model to cover extended operational scenarios and edge cases.
- System & IT Integration: Coordinate with IT teams to implement APIs, security policies, and deployment pipelines.
- User Training & Onboarding: Develop and deliver tailored WordLab™ and Σ™ training sessions for each user group, complete with documentation and support materials.
- Verification & Testing: Conduct end-to-end tests, validate data flows, and ensure that the digital twin behaves as expected under live conditions.
- Change Management Support: Provide workshops and materials to facilitate organizational adoption and continuous improvement.
